Summer 2008 Reunion Minutes |

|---|---|---|---|---|
The summer 2008 Moore Reunion was held at the Cedar Grove Family Life Center on Saturday, June 21. Charlene & Joe Stapleton had originally planned to host the reunion (for the Bob Moore Family) at their home in Urbana. When Joe was diagnosed with some severe lung problems just a few weeks prior to June 21, we decided to have a pitch in at Cedar Grove. Everyone in attendance was VERY happy to learn that Joe is responding well to the treatment, that he and Charlene are SO appreciative of the love and prayers coming their way, and, they plan to have the reunion in Urbana in 2009! There were 50 in attendance. That total includes 2 guests, Rev. Jim & Linda Vandermark, from Cedar Grove. The Moores in attendance were: Harry 2. Alvin 15. Helen 2. Roger 1. John 2. Edith 6. Bill 4. Clyde 5. Mary Ellen 5. & Don 6 Chuck (Uncle John) led the business meeting. The minutes of the 2007 reunion were e-mailed shortly after the reunion last year, so all agreed to approve the minutes without re-reading them. Joyce (Uncle Roger) was unable to attend the reunion because of recent surgery. So, Judy (Uncle Roger) covered the Treasurer's Report.

Chuck shared that his older son Lee, wife Hilary and two children are being transferred from Alaska to Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas this July. They expect to be in Kansas about a year. David (Uncle Don) and Holly Moore were there. David looks GREAT, is feeling well, and the follow-up tests are coming back with great results. David is also grateful for the prayer support from family during his intense battle with cancer last year. Since last year, David and Holly have added 4 more grandchildren, including a set of twins. Sharon (Uncle Don) and husband Mike Cobb sent word that their older son, Adam was married in February. Younger son, Phillip, graduated from Miami University and will soon be moving to Chicago, where he will work for the Neilson Group. Aunt Georgia is hoping that daughter, Susan, in California will be able to get tickets for the OSU vs. USC game. The cost of tickets is really high...as will be the cost of transportation to CA for the game! Bryan (Uncle Harry) shared that brother Kent is living in FL. Kent turned 75 in February. He has chronic Alzheimer-like symptoms, limited short-term memory, but sometimes is able to recognize someone from the past and carry on a conversation. Bryan encouraged us to call Kent. His phone number is: 941-2408984. Larry (Uncle Alvin) and Dorothy Moore are delighted to have a new grandson, Caleb Andrew. He was born about 6 weeks premature but is growing like a weed and progressing well. Sam (Aunt Helen) & Sue Warren are happy to have a new son-in-law, Keith. The newlyweds are happy. Sam retired on April 1....he is happy too!!! Hope and Steve Moore (Uncle Alvin's grandson, Cousin Max' son) are thrilled with their new granddaughter, Lexi Lynn, who arrived on May 8. Max (Uncle Alvin) and Joyce are expecting a new great-granddaughter in February. The new mom is Christi, daughter of Pam, who is daughter of Max. Ben Tomb (Aunt Edith) shared that his triplet grandsons are now 8 years old. Ben and son Stephen took the boys to swim with the dolphins in Florida. Ben said that all of them were in the shower room taking off their wet-suits when one of the boys exclaimed, "Dad! That was Great! Can we come back and do this again next year to celebrate our birthdays?" The answer was, "I am 39 this year. Your Grandpa is 64 this year. This is the first time either of us has gone swimming with the dolphins, so you probably shouldn't count on making this an annual event!" John Tomb (Aunt Edith) was happy to have his son Jeremy and his wife Sabra attend the reunion. Jeremy has established his law practice in Troy, Ohio. They are also expecting. John's daughter, Juline, has completed her education in medicine, is married and is a practicing neurologist in New York City. David Williams (Aunt Mary Ellen) shared that Richard's daughter, Lauren, just graduated from University of Cincinnati and will be going on to the University of Pittsburgh for a Master of Law degree. Also, Kent Williams' oldest son, Sean, graduated from Savannah College of Art & Design and will begin his career soon in New York City. John Tomb reported on the new memorial stone that is now in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in honor of Aunt Edith, who is interred in Tiffin, Ohio and Uncles Lloyd and Leslie who are interred in Warren, Indiana. The committee of Uncles and Cousins who have been working on this project did a beautiful job. Uncle Don shared that when Grandma Moore died, Grandpa was being encouraged to take her body back to Warren, IN for burial. Grandpa wanted her to be buried at Cedar Grove because all the family seemed to be centered in this area, except for Lloyd and Leslie. Now, all of the Moore siblings are remembered in this region of Ohio. Grandpa and Grandma would be glad about that. Aunt Alice asked us to keep Steve in our prayers as he was to have a hip replacement on Monday, June 23. Bryan (Uncle Harry) reminded us that the International Reunion of the Clan Morrison will be held in Scotland on the Isles of Lewis in 2009. Uncle Don reminded us that the "local" Morrison Reunion will be the first Saturday of August in Warren, IN. Uncle Don asked if we remembered how Cedar Grove became the center of faith for the Arthur Moore family. He said they had all moved from Arba, IN to the big brick house back the long lane from Cedar Grove on a Saturday. The next morning, the older kids got dressed and planned to go back to the Friend's Church in Arba in the Model T. Grandma came to the door and exclaimed, "If you are going to church for the right reason, the church at the end of the lane will be just fine. Turn off the car and walk." Wife (With?) love, Judy |
