Harry’s Family hosted the 2006 Moore Reunion at Cedar Grove on Saturday, June 25, 2006.  Present were Nelson and Jan, Regan and Margaret, Bryan and Joyce.  Joyce and Judy made the reservations, etc.  Mark and Steve helped to get the building open, set up tables and chairs.

Regan explained the slide presentation that was made of old family photos arranged in a continuous loop. One notable photo was the recent restored photo of Great-Great Grandfather William Alexander Moore with wife Elizabeth Chopson. This photo was found in Uncle Ross's house during the recent remodeling and was taken to Troy Ohio by Cousin John Tomb where a studio was able to put the three pieces back together again.  These are still available to anyone who still wants a copy. Regan brought extra 5x7's and still has some left for anyone interested. Another slide in the presentation documented the paternal line all the way back to Richard Moore who came to this country from Wales at age 16 with his mother (Elizabeth) in the year 1690.  Contact Regan for more detailed information on DNA testing and the Moore paternal line.  With birthdates it goes: Richard (1674), John (1705), Samuel (174?), David (1770), Samuel G. (1798), William Alexander (1828), Edwin (1855) and Arthur Merrill (12-7-1880 to 12-24-1974). Copies of the Power-Point presentation are available upon request to Regan. Also there exists a CD with photos which was done by Cousin David Moore (Uncle Don's son).

Max volunteered to do the reunion next year on behalf of Uncle Alvin’s family.  The preferred date of June 23rd was decided by a slim majority. The 16th was the other date considered.

Family reporting went as follows:

Frank - no one represented, but reports are that they are doing well.

Harry - Nelson, Regan and Bryan (with wives) represented family. Kent has moved to Mineral Springs Fl. and will be traveling to Russia soon. Regan's youngest daughter to be married at New Castle, IN on July 1st. Son, Yancy living in Louisville and Daughter Darby with husband and 2 grandchildren living in Salt Lake City. John has 3 adopted grand-children via Erin. Bryan, via oldest son Jason, has 5 grand-children, now living in Bristol TN. Sara, living in Travis City Michigan, has 3 grandchildren and another arriving soon.

Alvin- Max reported that there will be a Morrison noon-time reunion on Aug. 13, 2006 at the Warren, IN Church of Christ.  The meal will be pot-luck. Max and Joyce reported that Steve is teaching driver  education classes this summer; Nathan got married this summer; Debbie recently received RN degree; Jeff has 2 grandchildren, Pam has 3 grandchildren, and Jenny/Tom have 1 grandchild.  Jerry reported his wife and 3 children doing well. Larry was not able to attend because of pallbearer duties, but his youngest, Tyler, is getting married soon.

Bob- No one represented. But someone commented that they have regular golf outings as a family grouping.

Helen - Bob Warren expressed thanks for all the cards, flowers and attendance at the recent funeral. It was a special treat to have the Bill Moore family singers. Bob told the story of his granddaughter's recent award as a spokesperson for cancer survivors.  Sam reports 2 daughters with total of 5 grandchildren.  All are doing well.  Neil will be having shoulder surgery soon.

Roger (present) - Joe represented Uncle Roger’s family.  Uncle Roger listened carefully to be sure Joe got his facts correct!  (We learned a couple of days later, via Cousin Judy’s updates, that Uncle Roger was hospitalized the following day.)    Elizabeth, Joe’s younger daughter, is engaged to be married in June 2007. Jack Pipenger had surgery and is doing well. Cousin Judy serves on the board for a shelter for battered/homeless women and children, could attend the reunion because she was working a fund-raising event.

John - Neither Dan nor Chuck were present, but apparently there is at least one new grandchild?

Edith - No representatives. But it was reported that Cousin Ben Tomb was recently in Chicago and was able to spend some time with family. Cousin John Tomb will be undergoing a third hip replacement. Nelson .calls this the "Morrison Hip", as he is also a victim.

Bill (present) – Cousin Tom reported a new grandson Wyatt Alexander Moore. Cousins Bob and Bill were with their families in Myrtle Beach.

Clyde - Aunt Alice was present and in good spirits.  Steve reports 5 grandchildre and a new hip replacement. Mark's son, Drew and wife, Erika, married in January are expecting in November. Kathy reports Alison married last September.

Mary Ellen- (Uncle Bob present) David was family spokesperson. "Dad is doing well, but has a wheelchair handy just in case speeches get too long." Living in Centerville.  Richard lives in Columbus.  Richard’s daughter will soon be married.  Kent was unable to attend but is doing fine and living in North Carolina.

Don - Uncle Don did his family report.  Both Uncle Don and Aunt Georgia turned 80 this year;  "send gifts"! David unable t make it because of a golf match, so Sharon gets all of the "brownie points". Georgia was planning to come, but came down some G.I. symptoms.  Cousin Don is now retired from the Army dental corps and working as a civilian dentist in Fort Campbell, KY.

Rachel- No one has heard from Kenny Ross.  If anyone knows of address or e-mail, please help us re-establish contact with him.

As part of the program with a genealogy theme, Nelson gave his reminiscences of the summers he worked on the farm with Grand-dad, Ross and the other nearby uncles and aunts.  Many of these were good practical lessons, such as "two soft eggs and toast is a perfect breakfast to start the day". Many of the stories comment on the rich family heritage,  importance of music and humor, and developing a spiritual self.  And then there were some good 'ol Hoosier sayings. We can give you the full context of this in an addendum and/or add it to Regan's power-point CD on request.

New business: It was suggested that a marker stone should be erected in the Cedar Groove cemetery to commemorate siblings Lloyd and Leslie who died very young. Also Aunt Edith, who is actually buried at Tiffin, should be remembered here in some way also.  A committee of Bob Warren, John Tomb, Max Moore and Uncle Don were appointed to work out the details.

Next reunion will be June 23rd, 2007, at Cedar Grove, unless Max, Jerry and Larry have difficulties arranging things.
